Holosonics has been selected to showcase its unique Audio Spotlight technology at the G8 Summit in Sea Island, Georgia, this June. Hosted by President George W. Bush, the annual G8 Summit serves as a venue for world leaders from the United States, France, Russia, United Kingdom, Germany, Japan, Italy, and Canada to discuss key issues affecting all nations. The leaders of several African and Middle Eastern nations will also be attending, as well as the President of the European Commission.

According to the G8 committee, companies were selected for their unique "creative technology and innovations." Only about 25 companies were chosen to present their innovations at this Summit, which, in addition to the world leaders, will host over 3000 members of the international and domestic press. "We are truly honored to be chosen as an example of old-fashioned American ingenuity and business sense", says Dr. F. Joseph Pompei, the inventor of the technology, and President of Holosonics, which bootstrapped itself to profitability purely through product sales.

Dr. Pompei invented the Audio Spotlight while a graduate student at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. In contrast to traditional loudspeakers, which spread sound in all directions, the patented Audio Spotlight technology creates an extremely focused beam of sound that can be directed and "shone" much like light. The Audio Spotlight is widely used by museums, retailers, and exhibitors to provide sound to specific areas, without creating background noise.

The performance and reliability of the Audio Spotlight have made it the choice of the Smithsonian Institution, DaimlerChrysler, Motorola, Kraft, Cisco Systems, and the Boston Museum of Science - as well as the United States military. "While a few groups have attempted to copy our device, the Audio Spotlight is still the only system in the world successfully and widely used in real-life, commercial applications." Holosonics is expanding its markets into retail displays, special effects, and eventually consumer products. "Finally, we have a loudspeaker that puts sound only where you want it."
