Best of 2025: Featured Holosonics Installations
Each year, Holosonics technology finds its way into remarkable spaces around the world. In 2025, those spaces ranged from children’s hospitals and museums to college campuses and large-scale immersive art environments.
Rather than ranking projects by size or scope, we asked members of the Holosonics team a simple question: Which installation stood out to you most this year, and why? Their answers highlight not only the versatility of Audio Spotlight speakers, but also the human impact of thoughtful sound design.
Below are our team’s Best of 2025 selections.
Cincinnati Children’s Hospital
CRESTVIEW HILLS RENOVATION | CRESTVIEW HILLS, KENTUCKY
Designed by Kolar | Installed by Messer / Triversity Construction
Selected by Cristofer Osden
For Cristofer, this project resonated on a deeply personal level.
“As a father who has experienced taking a young child to the emergency room, I fully appreciate what Kolar and Cincinnati Children’s Hospital set out to accomplish... This space was designed not just to feel less intimidating, but to be warm, welcoming, and genuinely enjoyable for young patients.”
The renovation incorporates immersive scavenger hunts that combine visuals and sound, drawing children into a world of imagination and discovery. By shifting attention away from sterile treatments, the experience helps reduce anxiety and creates moments of comfort.
Cristofer also highlighted the creative use of custom-printed AS-24iX panels. “It is always special when we supply custom printed fabric, and the way Kolar implemented it here was both playful and visually beautiful.”
This installation marked the third phased Audio Spotlight deployment for Cincinnati Children’s Hospital, following successful projects in earlier years. The continued collaboration reflects the long-term value of sound-focused design in healthcare environments.
The Storm Remembered / Reactivated
AT THE ISABELLA STEWART GARDNER MUSEUM | BOSTON, MASSACHUSETTS
Designed and installed by Skooby Laposky
Selected by Joseph Stulpin
Installed as part of a commemorative exhibition marking the anniversary of the Gardner Museum art theft, “[] The Storm Remembered / Reactivated” invites visitors to experience a missing painting through sound.
“It was a pleasure assisting Skooby Laposky on this project at my favorite local museum,... The AS-168iX delivered continuous calm lake sounds, but when a visitor approached the empty frame, a motion sensor triggered thunder and lightning that transformed the space.”
In the absence of the physical artwork, sound became the medium through which visitors connected with the piece. Layered audio recreated the emotional presence of the stolen painting and complemented the exhibit’s empty frame.
“Skooby really leveraged our smallest speaker in a big way... I love seeing artists rethink sound creatively, and this project was a perfect example of that.”
AMETA Center
AT MID-STATE TECHNICAL COLLEGE | STEVENS POINT, WICSONSIN
Designed and installed by Brilliant Marketing
Selected by Sean Carolan
Sean recalls being excited from the very first conversation about this project.
“When I spoke with Bradley at Brilliant Marketing about the AMETA Center, I couldn’t wait to see the final result… What makes this installation truly special is the custom-built mount that holds an array of three AS-24iX speakers.”
The speaker array delivers an immersive listening experience even across long distances, while custom color printing allows the speakers to blend seamlessly into the environment.
The space also integrates two distinct audio systems. Audio Spotlight speakers provide focused sound for private kiosk experiences, while a JBL Synthesis system fills the room for tours, events, and larger gatherings.
“This combination adds real versatility to the space and shows how directional audio can coexist with full-room sound.”
“NEST: COLONY”
AT VILLAGE NUMÉRIQUE 2025 | MONTREAL, CANADA
Designed and installed by Studio Iregular
Selected by Dr. F. Joseph Pompei, President and CEO
For Dr. Pompei, “NEST: COLONY” represents the intersection of art, engineering, and ambition.
“I always appreciate high-level engineering, attention to detail, and the passion to achieve what seems impossible… This project was presented as a vision of what the future of advertising in public spaces could be.”
The installation combines 3D motion sensing, robotic speaker mounts, and real-time tracking to dynamically target listeners with precisely aimed sound beams as they move through the space.
“Watching Audio Spotlight speakers reposition fluidly and respond instantly to human movement reminded me why we innovate... It pushes the limits of technology and challenges what people think is possible.”
This project builds on an ongoing collaboration with Studio Iregular, who have created multiple immersive installations using Holosonics technology.
Looking Ahead
From comforting children in healthcare settings to redefining immersive art and education, these projects reflect the breadth of what focused sound can achieve. Each installation is different, but all share a commitment to thoughtful design and meaningful experiences.
We are grateful to the designers, artists, and partners who continue to push boundaries with us, and to the Holosonics team members who help bring these ideas to life.
