VIEW BOSTON REDEFINES IMMERSIVE CITY EXPLORATION

WITH DIRECTIONAL SOUND

Audio Spotlight® directional speakers help create personalized interactive experiences at Boston’s award-winning observation destination

BOSTON'S PREMIER OBSERVATION EXPERIENCE ADDS IMMERSIVE AUDIO

Perched atop Boston’s iconic Prudential Center, View Boston blends panoramic skyline views with immersive storytelling, interactive technology, and personalized city exploration experiences. Developed in collaboration with experiential technology leader Electrosonic, the observatory has quickly become one of the region’s most celebrated immersive attractions, earning industry recognition including Commercial Integrator’s 2024 “Best Immersive Experience Project” award.

View Boston embraces cutting-edge technology to offer an unparalleled sensory experience that showcases the best of our city.
— Bryan Koop, Executive Vice President for BXP’s Boston Region

Among the attraction’s most engaging environments is “Explore Boston,” a sweeping installation of fourteen vertical interactive displays where guests discover neighborhoods, landmarks, restaurants, cultural destinations, and hidden gems throughout the city. Visitors can curate and print personalized itineraries based on their interests, transforming digital exploration into real-world self-guided adventures across Boston itself.

Supporting this highly individualized experience within a large open public environment presented a unique audio challenge. Multiple visitors interact simultaneously with different categories of content across fourteen adjacent stations, making conventional loudspeakers impractical due to excessive audio overlap and ambient noise.

To preserve immersion and personalization, Electrosonic integrated fourteen Holosonics AS-168iX Audio Spotlight® directional speakers above each display using fourteen black-finish MNTV-1 mounting brackets. The highly focused sound beams allow guests to clearly hear location-specific audio directly in front of them, while surrounding areas remain remarkably quiet.

As visitors navigate the touch-enabled displays, localized directional audio works alongside visuals and interactive content to create a layered sensory experience. Directional audio remains tightly localized to each interactive station, allowing multiple guests to simultaneously engage with entirely different content journeys side-by-side without headphones and without disturbing one another.

That personalized journey is especially evident throughout Explore Boston, where visitors move naturally from immersive digital discovery into real-world urban exploration. Audio Spotlight® technology helps reinforce that connection by delivering individualized sound experiences that support focused engagement without overwhelming the surrounding environment.

Unlike traditional open-air audio systems that flood spaces with competing sound, Audio Spotlight technology creates isolated listening zones that preserve clarity and immersion while maintaining the calm atmosphere expected from a premium public attraction.

We strive to provide our guests with more than just a spectacular view, but rather an immersive experience to coincide with it... Through the collaboration with RWS Global and Electrosonic, we are able to create a seamless and personalized journey for every visitor.
— Justin Rink, General Manager of View Boston
