We are excited to showcase the seamless installation of Holosonics’ Audio Spotlight speakers at the renowned Susan Samueli Integrative Health Institute (SSIHI). The SSIHI, located at the heart of the University of California, Irvine campus, is committed to transforming healthcare through integrative health practices and creating a serene healing environment for its patients.

Holosonics’ innovative Audio Spotlight speakers, known for their ability to direct sound like a beam of light, have been strategically integrated into the SSIHI Infusion Suite above each of the six patient chairs. This innovative installation aims to provide patients with a personalized and immersive audio experience during their infusion sessions.

Audio Spotlight speakers were specifically selected to follow SSIHI’s mission in emphasizing patient comfort, recovery, and individualized care. The speakers emit sound that is focused and directed only towards the intended listener, ensuring a private and tailored auditory experience – or lack thereof, for those that prefer quiet instead. The personalized entertainment technology allows patients to enjoy their own preferred soundscape while minimizing noise distractions for both themselves and the dedicated hospital staff.

Another notable advantage of the Audio Spotlight speakers is their touch-free and tetherless nature. By offering a wireless alternative to traditional headphones, the installation eliminates the additional task of sanitizing devices, and contributes to a seamless and hygienic patient experience.

ADVANTAGES

  • Sound for specific areas - and quiet elsewhere.

  • Several soundtracks in one room - without disturbing others or interfering with one another.

  • Untethered sound delivery, without the need for headphone wires or unsanitary handsets.

The project AV design, by Avidex, was purposefully elegant and simple; every AS-168iX speaker was fed via an Atlas Atmosphere DSP hub, which served as both volume control and Bluetooth connectivity, while dedicated wall plates provided visiting patients the ability to quickly connect their own devices to the speakers and play their own music as they received treatment, as well as to adjust volume levels to personal taste – right from the comfort of their seat.

Holosonics’ Audio Spotlight products were a great solution for in-ceiling speakers, giving them the flexibility for patients to listen to their own audio without interfering with each other, while maintaining a clean aesthetic to the environment.

Avidex’s site installation tech, Jeffrey Jaimes, shared, “Holosonics’ Audio Spotlight products were a great solution for in-ceiling speakers, giving them the flexibility for patients to listen to their own audio without interfering with each other, while maintaining a clean aesthetic to the environment.”  He continued, “The customer was impressed with how well these performed and could not wait to give them a try when the facility was open to the public.  Now that it has been open for several months, they are very pleased with the system we installed, and say patients often comment on how the speakers give a better experience to the treatment process.”

At Holosonics, we are honored to collaborate with the Susan Samueli Integrative Health Institute in their pursuit to transform healthcare and provide holistic patient care. The Audio Spotlight installation is just one example of their commitment to enhancing their patients’ well-being by providing individualized, holistic care in a peaceful and healing environment.
